The annual Microbial Biotechnology Symposium (10th edition this year) of the Dutch Biotechnology Association (NBV) and Dutch Microbiology Society (KNVM) brings together scientists and researchers from both academia and industry interested in all aspects of microbial biotechnology.
This encompasses microbial physiology and applying systems and synthetic biology approaches in applications fields including industrial, environmental, medical/pharmaceutical, and agricultural biotechnology and engineering.
The Microbial Biotechnology working group aims to enable the interaction between molecular biologists, fermentation specialists, mathematicians, bioinformaticians and physicists across the Netherlands. Exchange of knowledge, software and methods is thereby highly relevant and for this the MB Symposium is instrumental.
The scientific goal of the meeting is to stimulate and advance the broad field of microbial biotechnology, both research and application, in The Netherlands, through the exchange of the latest ideas, findings, developments, and methods.
This encompasses different disciplines, including synthetic biology, systems biology, fermentation technology, microbial physiology, and metabolic engineering.
This exchange of knowledge and technology will lead to answers to important fundamental and applied research questions and stimulate new research lines and ideas.
To reach this goal, the program consists of poster presentations, presentations by junior scientists and academic and industrial leaders and ample networking opportunities.
