Time for tropical ecology in Amsterdam

The “European Conference of Tropical Ecology” is a annual event organised on behalf of the Society for Tropical Ecology (https://www.soctropecol.eu/).

The societies origins are with the German Gesellschaft für Tropenökologie, however, over recent years the society has broadened it scope to become the leading academic society for tropical ecology in Europe.

As part of this internationalisation the society has sought to have their scientific meeting hosted in other European countries. The 2025 edition will be the eighth since the re-visioning of the society and the first to be held in the Netherlands. The scientific goal of the meeting is multi-fold.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for researchers to showcase research, discuss the latest innovations, and to develop networks. The scale of the meeting (<250 people) is large enough to develop a vibrant atmosphere, but small enough so that everyone can meet anyone they want.

The scientific scope of the meeting is deliberately broad within the field of tropical ecology (see below) to attract a wide audience.

There will be up to 24 thematic sessions the focus of which is determined by proposals from the community and the meetings Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC; comprising academics from six Dutch research organisations)
