Genetics Retreat

The annual Genetics Retreat has been organised since the 1990s.

The upcoming edition takes place on 18 September, in Amsterdam, immediately preceding the two-day 75th edition of the annual NVHG meeting. Retreat participants receive a registration discount for the NVHG meeting.

The Retreat provides an exclusive podium for PhD students: our objective is that young scientists learn to present their research, engage in critical scientific discussion and networking with young colleagues from other institutions.

Since ±2010, also young scientists from adjacent fields (molecular genetics, epigenetics, systems biology), and from neighbouring countries (Belgium, Germany, France) are attracted to the Retreat; this provides important transdisciplinary integration within the program, contributes to international networking and has already led to novel collaborations across international and disciplinary borders.
