Grant Description

Antibiotic resistant bacteria are rapidly emerging worldwide.

This antibiotic resistance crisis is notably connected to the massive misuse of antibiotics and the lack of novel and efficient compounds.

With countless structures and properties, natural products including ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides (RiPP) are a promising source of antibiotics .

However, their development as effective antibiotics faces many challenges related notably to their synthesis, stability and bioavailability. In the frame of this project, we aim to engineer a novel class of RiPPs in order to develop innovative antibiotics.
