The Middle Belt of Nigeria is a culturally diverse region with over 340 distinct languages and rich intangible cultural heritage (ICH) traditions, which are at risk of disappearing.

The project aims to inventory, document, and conserve these ICH traditions, leveraging American expertise and engaging Morehouse College students to build capacity among Nigerian field researchers.

Activities include conducting field visits to inventory 50 cultures, documenting ICH traditions in 10 focus cultures, and implementing preventive conservation measures by returning annotated audiovisual materials to participating communities.
