Grant Description

U.S. Department of State, International Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement - Andean Counterdrug Initiative.

The Andean Counterdrug Programs account funded U.S. assistance to Plan Colombia and follow-on activities from 2000 to 2010.

These funds supported the Colombian Army's push into southern Colombia in support of the Colombian National Police, enhanced drug interdiction in Colombia and the region, increased support to the Colombian National Police, provided for economic development in Colombia and the Andean region, and boosted Colombia's local and national government capacity.

Beginning in 2010, Andean Counterdrug Programs funds are appropriated in the International Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement account.
