Grant Description

To document traditional buildings and settlement patterns in Papua New Guinea.

In their tropical environment, Papuan buildings built using traditional methods degrade quickly and are increasingly replaced with new buildings of modern material and design.

This project includes a survey of traditional architecture in eight provinces and support for the Architectural Heritage Centre of Papua New Guinea to carry out the survey work.
