To support the conservation, cataloging, and publishing of texts that are currently inscribed on more than 500 sticks. Many are in poor condition and are deteriorating. Over 3000 sticks are inscribed with Sabaean texts dating from 800 B.C. to 400 A.D.
The sticks report the activities of ordinary individuals, and are unique sources of information about social conditions in Yemen before the advent of Islam.
