Grant Description

Funds have been used to build and equip a facility in Tichitt to house and preserve approximately 7000 Islamic manuscripts documenting the history of Saharan trade during the Ghana Empire. Tichitt was a center of Islamic learning at the crossroads of the Saharan trade routes.
