Grant Description

To enable the mapping and documentation of Mongolia's lost monastery sites destroyed in the Stalinist purges. The project will create a database of monasteries and temples in four provinces of Mongolia.

Site identification would greatly rely on GPS technology and collection of oral histories from those who were around during the purges, but are now in their 70's and 80's.
