Through this award the Gaoui Museum building will be completely revitalized and conservation of the collections will be completed.
The collection includes pottery, hunting and fishing implements, traditional textiles, basketry and items from Sao and Kotoko religious rites. Many of the artifacts date from the 6th century AD. The 100-year old mud buildings and the collections housed in them are threatened by inadequate climate controls.
