To enable the preservation of the craft of making riverine country boats by documenting the traditional methods and by preserving a few examples of the boats.
There are over 60 different shapes of hulls designed to suit particular geographic areas, and the technique of creating them is unique.
The project will record the ancient craft from the last generation of marine carpenters along the Brahmaputra and Ganges rivers.
