Grant Description

In 2007, the Chinese Government promised the Government of Guinea Bissau that it would fund the construction of a new government headquarters.

According to email correspondence between AidData’s Executive Director and the Director General of the Office of the Secretary of State for Planning and Regional Integration in Guinea-Bissau, the Chinese Government provided a grant worth $16 million to the Government of Guinea-Bissau to support the Government Office Building Construction Project.

China’s Ministry of Commerce was the funding source. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
