In 2005, according to OCHA financial reports, China donated $500,000 to the Trust Fund for Tsunami Disaster Relief, which was established in February 2005 to fund aid efforts related to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. This money was specifically used for the coordination of humanitarian assistance in Indonesia.
According to a UN Consolidated Appeals on the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, this project was recorded as "TSU - IND-05/CSS01" and the aim of this project was to "maintain and further develop a comprehensive framework for ensuring the coherent and effective delivery of humanitarian assistance to victims of the disaster." Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.
Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
