In 2005, the Government of China donated $203,021 to the World Health Organization (WHO) to Indonesia for the restoration of the Water and Sanitation Systems in response to the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.
According to the WHO, the project aimed to "rehabilitate the water supply and sanitation waste disposal services in affected areas." Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
