In 2005, the Government of China donated $338,368 to the World Health Organization (WHO) for emergency child and maternal health services in Indonesia in response to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
According to the WHO, the aim of the project was to "assist the Government and other agencies in providing child and maternal health services.
The focus will be given to technical support for the provision of care, preventive and treatment advice, training, and essential medical supplies." Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
