Grant Description

On August 20, 2012, representatives of the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in Peru signed Letters of Exchange pledging to use grant funds provided through an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) signed on November 19, 2008, to construct the Jose Maria Arguedas Elementary School (Escuela Primaria No. 20602 - José María Arguedas) in Santa Cruz de Cocachacra, Huarochirí, about 50 km east of Lima.

The total cost of the construction project was approximately 30 million PEN. The school will provide education to about 320 primary school students. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
