Grant Description

On November 2nd, 2003, the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office in the Chinese Embassy to Jordan formally invited 20 Jordanian Government officials to participate in a three week training course in establishing Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and managing projects financed by Chinese loans.

The invitation was extended through Jordan's Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation to Jordanian officials from the Ministries of Planning and International Cooperation, Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, Heath, Communications and Information Technology, as well as officials from the Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation and the Free Zones Corporation.

In the invitation China committed to funding the travel, lodging, and training costs. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
