Chinese Government sends 11th medical team to Guyana

On June 7, 2013, the eleventh batch of medical doctors arrived in Guyana to serve at the Georgetown Public Hospital and the Linden Hospital Complex.

The sixteen-member team specialized in the areas of orthopaedics, urology, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, anesthesiology, plastic surgery and acupuncture. The team planned to stay in Guyana for two years. During the course of their two-year stint, the team treated over 41,000 patients and performed 6000 surgeries.

Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
