Grant Description

On March 31, 2006, the 1st batch of Chinese peacekeepers arrived in Beirut, Lebanon as part of China's contribution to the UN Interim Forces In Lebanon (UNIFIL). 80 peacekeepers arrived in March, and another 102 arrived in April.

The force was comprised of companies for landmine clearing, engineering, logistics, and medicine, and was established on February 28, 2006, according to the Chinese government. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
