Grant Description

Based on the news release from the Ministry of Information of Myanmar and Chinese government website, during the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (May 14-15, 2017), Myanmar and China signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement.

Under the agreement, China is going to provide 500 million RMB to Myanmar to support the development of the agriculture sector. However, whether it is in an interest-free loan or grant is unknown. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
