China signs 20million RMB ETCA Grant with Vanuatu Government for unspecific purposes

On January 22nd, 2005, Vanuatu's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sato Kilman paid an official visit to Beijing, China.

During this visit, the Chinese government announced that it will be providing a further 20,000,000 renminbi (US$2.4 million) in grant assistance to Vanuatu, but it was not reported how the grant would be used.

The agreement was expected to be formalized by Prime Minister Lini during his official visit to China in February ("CHINA PROMISES $2.4 MILLION TO VANUATU"). Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
