Grant Description
On May 18, 2017, China sent the 8th medical team to the Port Moresby General Hospital.
Over the two year mission, the ten person team wants to focus on training the local medical staff, providing specialist medical support, operating a clinic, and conducting surgeries. The mission concluded in June 2019.
This series of medical missions began after the then Chinese Ambassador to PNG, Zhao Zhenyu, discussed PNG's extreme need for medical doctors in 2000. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
