Chinese Government dispatches 5th medical team to Port Moresby Hospital

On April 9, 2010, an agreement to dispatch the fifth medical team to PNG was signed by China's Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Wei Ruixing, and Papua New Guinea ’s Minister of Health, and officially called “The Agreement between the Government of the People ’s Republic of China and the Government of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea on the Dispatch of the Fifth Medical Team." This series of medical missions began after the then Chinese Ambassador to PNG, Zhao Zhenyu, discussed PNG's extreme need for medical doctors in 2000.

Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
