The Roseau-Portsmouth Road Rehabilitation Project is one of the four pillar projects established between Chinese and Dominican government when diplomatic relations were set in 2004. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on February 26, 2010.
This road runs from the capital city, Roseau, in the south to Dominica’s second largest city, Portsmouth, in the north. The road is 45 kilometers long and serves as the artery of the country. The project is one of the largest undertaken by China in the Caribbean region. Project implementer was China Railway 17 Bureau Group (CR17BG).
Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
