China-Mali Friendship Embroidery Training Center [Phase 3] (linked #60168 and #60174)

In an exchange of letters on June 22 and July 24 2007, China agreed to send 5 technicians to the China-Mali Friendship Embroidery Training Center (中马友谊刺绣培训中心) in Bamako to conduct a two-year training on embroidery and children’s clothing design, tailoring and sewing as part of Mali's ongoing embroidery training project intended to improve women’s employment opportunities, The project, financed by the Chinese government, began June 2004 and is implemented by Mali UNICEF and China Light Industrial Corporation.

On November 7, 2007, the implementation contract for the third phase of Mali's embroidery training project was signed by representatives from both organizations. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
