China launches medical campaign 'Operation Light'

In 2014, China established a medical campaign called “Light Operation” in Republic of Congo (中国“光明行”医疗援助项目). The project was implemented by the Tianjin Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission. After 2-years preparation, the project was launched in 2016.

A team of Chinese doctors from Tianjin Eye Hospital will come to Congo to operate free of charge those suffering from cataracts and nearly 500 patients will be treated at the Sino-Congolese Friendship Hospital of M'Filou in Brazzaville and that of Loandjili in Black Point. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
