China Eximbank pledges loan for 40MW Kati Solar Power Plant During the the Tianjin World Economic Forum in 2014, Malian and Chinese representatives signed a commercial contract for the financing and construction of a 40 MW solar power plant in Kati.
Reports of the value of the project range from CFAF 25 billion to CFAF 82 billion, but regardless, this financing does not appear to have been confirmed.
In November 2017, during the 2nd session of the Joint Commission for Economic, Commercial and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Mali and the People's Republic of China, a working session was held to secure Chinese financing for the Kati solar power plant (projet de centrale solaire de Kati).
EXIM Bank has reportedly received certain documents from Mali and is in the process of evaluating the project. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
