Chinese government grants 100 vehicles worth $4 million to Malawi Police

On May 18, 2016, the Chinese and Malawi governments signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) for the provision of police vehicles to Malawi.

This agreement granted 100 vehicles, including pick-ups, sedans, SUVs and buses, worth $4 million to the Malawi Police, according to the MOFCOM source. On December 11, 2017, the Chinese government handed over the vehicles to the Malawi Police Service. Donated vehicles include two buses, three lorries, 10 minibuses, 10 station wagons, 15 saloons and 60 pickups.

Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
