Grant Description

China Development Bank offers master loan facility to small and medium enterprises in Lesotho In 2009, China Development Bank (CDB) established a master loan facility initiative under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) called the Special Loan for the Development of African Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's) (国家开发银行非洲中小企业发展专项贷款) worth $1 billion USD.

It was increased to $6 billion USD at the 2015 FOCAC Summit.

On 16 November 2016, the CDB South Africa working group visited Maseru to officially introduce this master loan facility to Lesotho SME's. AidData did not find evidence of subsequent signed agreements. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
