Grant Description

In August 2005, the Chinese government signed exchanged notes with the Eritrean government on the donation of construction materials to Eritrea. In 2006, China signed an agent supply contract of an Eritrean construction materials assistance project.

The price of the project was examined and approved on May 26, 2006, during the 11th regular meeting of 2006 of the Foreign Assistance Project Bid Board of the Ministry of Commerce.

According to the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy in the People's Republic of China, this donation of building materials was worth RMB 60 million, and was provided in two batches. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
