Grant Description

On 2 April 2004, the Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) granting 20 million RMB to the Government of Lesotho to help the African country recover from famine.

Some of these funds were used to buy 2,000 tons of corn (#55533) to give to starving Basotho families, and the remaining amount was used for other unspecified projects. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
