Chinese Government pledges $423 million for the financing of the purchase of 11 boats by Argentina On July 18, 2014, during Chinese president Xi Jinping's visit to Argentina, an agreement was signed for Chinese financing of the purchase of 11 vessels for 423 million USD.

The vessels are specifically to be used to "modernize and equip" the Argentine government to better navigate its inland rivers. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
