According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Financial Tracking Service (flow ID #165560), on 23 August 2017, the Chinese government donated $1 million USD to the World Food Programme (WFP) making it the first United Nations entity in Pakistan to receive bilateral funds from the China.
The financing was specifically sourced from the China South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund.
The money supported an operation called Transition: Toward Resilience and Food-Secure Pakistan which aims to feed displaced populations after years of deteriorating socio-economic and environmental conditions. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.
Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
