Grant Description

Following a 2016 Sri Lankan landslide which destroyed a village in Aranayake, the Chinese Government committed to provide a grant worth 22.5 billion crore (225 million LKR or 1.5 million USD) for the Aranayake China-Sri Lanka Friendship Village Project.

This project involved the construction of 60 two-story houses for those living in the Aranayake village who were displaced by the disaster. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
