China donated meteorological equipment to Comoros

On December 10, 2015, the handover ceremony of the meteorological equipment from China was held in the Comoros capital of Moroni. The Chinese aid construction is an automatic weather station and supporting lightning protection equipment.

The construction of the automatic weather station will help the department to improve the level of local meteorological observations, and play an important role in obtaining meteorological data, conducting weather forecasting, scientific research and disaster prevention and mitigation. The three phases of the maintenance of the equipments were completed in October 2016.

The cost of the equipment donated and captured by this project entry is unclear. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
