Grant Description

In February 2006, the Chinese government granted an additional $4.8 million USD to St. Lucia for the construction of the 104-bed psychiatric hospital.

The Chinese government had already granted EC$6.5 million in December 2003 (#54919) and $3.41 million USD in 2004 (#54921). Construction on the hospital began on April 3, 2006, which was delayed from an expected start date of November 2005. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
