Grant Description
In June 2013, President Xi Jinping announced that China would send ophthalmologists to the Caribbean to conduct free cataract surgeries under the "Bright Journey" project.
On 22 May 2015, the Chinese government donated medical equipment and supplies worth of 400,000 USD to the Jamaica Ministry of Health & Wellness as part of the Bright Journey project. The donation included a set of equipment for ophthalmology surgery as well as related medication and materials. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.
Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
