Grant Description

On October 9, 2013, the construction contract of the new New Town Primary School was signed between China Construction International Ltd. and the Dominican Ministry of Education.

Chinese Ambassador Wang Zonglai, Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and some cabinet ministers attended the ceremony.

A media article covered the signing ceremony for a $6 million grant from China for the construction of the school but the currency is not clear. It is a Dominican source so it is presumed to be EC. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
