Chinese Government donates $400,000 for Hurricane Sandy Relief (Linked to Record ID#41187)

On 12 November, 2012, the Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ileana Núñez, signed an exchange of letters and received $400,000 from the Chinese Government in emergency aid after Hurricane Sandy hit Cuba on 25 October, 2012.

The donation included nearly 90 tons of supplies, most notably 900 tents, 10,000 towel sheets, 30 sets of water purification equipment, 100 small electric generators, 400 walkie-talkies, and various medicines, which was delivered at Santiago Antonio Marseille International Airport in Cuba on 21 November, 2012.

Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
