Grant Description

China EXIM extends 250 million yuan credit line to Bolivia for acquisition of development equipment On February 26, 2004, the Government of Bolivia and Government of China signed a Framework Agreement on Preferential Credit (Acuerdo Marco sobre el Crédito Preferencial), agreeing that the EXIM Bank of China will extend to Bolivia preferential credits up to 250 million RMB, creating a credit line.

The purpose of this credit line is specified as development of the countryside, specifically through the acquisition of equipment and machinery from China. The original agreement framework was dated February 26, 2004 and approved May 28, 2004.

On September 27, 2004, the Department of Treasury was officially authorized to sign preferential loan agreements with China EXIM Bank under this framework, for up to the agreed 250 million RMB. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
