China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation signed MOU to finance the Xepone 3 Hydropower project in Laos

In November 2005, a Momentum of Understanding was signed of the Xepone 3 hydropower project in Laos (or Xepon 3 or Sepon 3).

On April 21st, 2008, China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation and the Lao government signed MOU to finance the project. ("老挝Xepone 3水电站项目MOU签订情况简介", "Rethinking Investments in Natural Resources: China’s Emerging Role in the Mekong Region") Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
