China provides $1 million in cash assistance to Afghanistan government budget (Linked to Record ID#34498, #53537)

On 27 May 2003, Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong and Afghan Vice President Nimartullah Shaharani signed an agreement, under which China would provide $1 million in cash to Afghanistan.

The report published by China Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinese media articles reported that the US$1 million was to support Afghanistan's national budget. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
