Chinese Government provides $500,000 grant for public housing complex in Tout Lui Faut

On January 13, 2006, the Chinese Government and the Government of Suriname signed a $500,000 grant agreement for the construction of a public housing complex in Tout Lui Faut.

The complex consisted of 200 low-income houses: 10 one-bedroom houses, 60 two-bedroom houses, and 130 three-bedroom houses. Suriname companies designed the complex, but Chinese companies were contracted for labor and construction. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
