Grant Description

On 7 May 2009, Ministry of Public works And Transport of Kingdom of Cambodia and China Railway Group Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct a feasibility study on the project.

China Railway No.8 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CREC8) began the study in July 2009 and it was completed in 2011 at a cost of 3 million US dollars. The study found that the total cost of the proposed project to be US$686 million.

The 257-km railway will start in Kampong Speu Province's Oudong District, pass by Kratie Province's Snuol District and end at Vietnam's Loc Ninh District in the southern border province of Binh Phuoc. It is estimated to take 30 months to complete. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
