Grant Description

On November 17, 2004, China donated $50,000 to Indonesia for earthquake relief in Alor in East Nusa Tenggara.

Chinese ambassador to Indonesia Lu Shu Min handed over the donation to the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Alwi Shihab, intended to be used for medicine, food, and materials to repair the physical damage done by the earthquake.

The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.5 on the Richter Scale, jolted nine sub-districts in Alor District, East Nusa Tenggara Province, on 12 November, and was followed by 1,000 aftershocks. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
