Grant Description

In March 2004, the Chinese Government agreed to cancel 9.6 million British pounds (or approximately $18.8 million) of the Government of Afghanistan's outstanding debt obligations. These debt obligations were originally contracted by the Afghan government in 1965. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
