Grant Description

In March 2003, China donated 2,000,000 RMB for the construction of two schools for war orphans in Afghanistan. The money was given to the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan. The fund comes from donation initiated by "Window of the World" Magazine in November 2002.

On 17 June 2003, in Kabul, Afghan Education Minister Mohammad Yunus Qanooni and Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Sun Yuxi signed an agreement on the construction of the 2 schools- one in Kabul and another in Parwan. The construction would be implemented and monitored by the Chinese Embassy. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
