Chinese Government provides RMB 9.35 million grant for construction of Chittagong Primary School and Rangpur Primary School

In 2009, the Chinese Government and the Government of Bangladesh met at the 12th session of the Joint Commission (JC) and discussed the possibility of China providing assistance for building two primary schools. Bangladesh had initially sought assistance to build 5 schools.

In September 2011, China Heilongjiang International Economic and Technical Cooperation Corporation and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education of Bangladesh represented their respective governments and signed a contract to construct two rural primary schools with grant funding from the Chinese Government.

Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
