Grant Description

In November 2013, the Chinese Government announced that it would open a trade mission in São Tomé and Príncipe.

This action came roughly four years before the Chinese Government and the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe resumed diplomatic relations (this occurred on December 26, 2017).

Shortly after establishing a trade mission in São Tomé and Príncipe, the Chinese Government reportedly pledged to fund the construction of new sewers and sewage treatment plants. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
